When it comes to different kitchen styles, there are many options to choose from depending on your personal preference, as well as what is currently in style. Regardless of where in the world a kitchen might be, ensuring the overall décor has a personal touch is a top priority for any homeowner. Check out our global inspiration below!

1. Spanish Hacienda

2. French Country

3. Italian Tuscan

4. Moroccan

5. Scandinavian

Spanish Hacienda

The Spanish Hacienda kitchen style is perfect for anyone looking for a mix of color and natural elements. Hacienda in Spanish means “estate” or “large house” so these kitchens lean more towards the open layout and are big and spacious. They’re comparable to the Southwest kitchen style you see in the U.S., except with much more color.

Many natural elements, particularly clay and ceramics, are proudly displayed as adornments, and exposed brick is favored over any other kind of backsplash or backgrounds. Wood elements are also found in this kitchen style, but primarily in the surrounding furniture like the table and chairs, to give off a more vintage and homier vibe.

In terms of a color pallet, think bold and bright: colored tiling, like burnt yellows, royal blues, reds, and oranges are married into the décor, and even carry over onto the walls.

The French Country

The French country style is where much of the farmhouse kitchen décor inspiration came from. The big, white, farmhouse sinks, with an an abundance of natural elements like wood, exposed stone, and fresh flowers play a major role in the overall décor, leaning towards a more sophisticated rustic feel. The color pallet sticks to neutral, pale toned hues that make it feel very inviting, and calm.

The main difference is the mixture of elegance within the rustic atmosphere that’s achieved with detailing in the cabinets and copper accent pieces. Over the rack pots and pans, ideally in copper as well, add to the overall homey glamor. The open space found in this kitchen style is able to accommodate such a feature without looking overcrowded or messy.

High ceilings with exposed beams are shown off to encompass the large, generous space, and a big spacious island is usually present. Often times a secondary plank table is seen as well, to be used as a work station or breakfast table.

Italian-Tuscan

The Italian-Tuscan kitchen design is a close comparison to the French country kitchen, as the two designs share elements of rustic décor, but the Italian-Tuscan takes the cake when it comes to a rustic feel. Textured walls reign supreme, with exposed brick and stone, while creams and earthy tones like terracotta, orange, and earthy greens are the desired palette.

While the French country kitchen boasts elegance and comfort, the Italian-Tuscan vibe is one that is rustic, yet much more artistic. Decorative accents can be found stenciled on cabinet doors or table tops, which all lean towards darker, natural, wood colors. Butcher block style islands are favored over any other material, as well as high rise ceilings with exposed beams.

Décor is overall earthy and artisan, prominently displayed throughout the kitchen, particularly in the backsplash area, in some kind of art piece.

Moroccan

This next kitchen style is one that has made some major headway in trends recently, as people all over are taking on a more minimalistic approach to their lifestyle. However, this particular style still encompasses comfort and relaxation among the minimalism. It’s very similar to what we in the U.S. would call a bohemian look, but with more color.

In the Moroccan kitchen style, you’ll find bright colors, and specifically intricately designed tiles. Blues and turquoise in all shades are favored, but other colors are welcomed as well.

Open shelving is also preferred, to bring in an open and airy atmosphere, along with woven elements for décor. Decorated rugs, woven baskets, and string lights make up the overall décor.

Scandinavian

The Scandinavian kitchen style is ideal for anyone who is pulled towards the utmost minimalism style and loves a clean and clutter free space. This kitchen style is most reminiscent of the modern kitchen design we’d see here on our own turf, with sparse décor (if any) and an overall practical and contemporary flow.

The overall presentation is sleek and modern, and if any décor is used it’s in the form of contemporary art pieces, or a small house plant. Keeping it light, basic, and natural is the name of the game here, almost no specific details in décor. The color scheme stays within black, grays, and whites, with only wood tones as accent pieces.
